  • What do your birthday party packages include?

  • What is your cancellation and schedule change policy?

    Cancellation Refund Policy
    • More than 21 days before party: Full refund, minus $25 administrative fee and $50 ProFace deposit (if applicable)
    • Less than 21 days before party: Partial refund, minus $25 administrative fee and $50 ProFace deposit (if applicable) may be available
    • Less than 7 days before party: No refund
    • In the unlikely event that the Children's Museum should have to cancel a reservation for unforeseen circumstances, you will be issued a full refund, or may choose to reschedule your party on an alternate available date.

    Changes to Schedule
    • Date and time changes (if available) can be made until 14 days prior to new reservation date.

    • ProFace Painter: There is a $50 nonrefundable deposit included in the cost of this Add-On. This means that if the ProFace Add-On is booked and later cancelled in accordance with the above cancellation policy, the $50 nonrefundable ProFace deposit would be retained and the amount refunded for the Add-On would be $75 (Indoor) or $100 (Outdoor).

  • We are planning to arrive early to play before our reservation time. Can we store our things somewhere while we play?


    •Access to the party area is not available until reserved time.
    • Temporary storage is available for non-perishable items up to 1 hour before party. (Fridge currently not available for early storage)

  • I reserved an outdoor party. What if it rains?

    Rain Contingency Policy
    • Cancellations due to rain MUST be made no less than 5 days before reservation to receive a full refund, minus $25 administrative fee and $50 ProFace deposit (if applicable).
    • Refunds are not available for rain cancellations made less than 5 days before reservation.
    • Host may reschedule to a different date no less than 5 days before original reservation.
    • Host may request that party be moved to the indoor party room if available, but host must comply with indoor party policies, timeline and guest totals (see website for indoor party details).
    • If host chooses to move forward with party in the rain, a 10’ x 10’ canopy can be provided.

  • What is the guest limit?


    • The guest limit for indoor birthday parties is 30 people total; for outdoor parties it is 40 people total. Total count includes hosts, family members and all guests whether they are museum members or not.
    • CMOSC requires supervision from a minimum of one adult for every four children.
    • You and the adults in your party are responsible for supervising the children in your party at all times in all areas of the Museum.

  • Can adults without children attend our birthday party at the Museum?


    For security purposes, we cannot let adults into the Museum without children unless their names are included on your birthday party guest list.

  • If my friends or family are members, do they count towards my total?


    • Yes. All family members and any guests count towards the total people included in the package. This is because reserved party areas are a private, exclusive space in the Museum not open to other museum members and visitors.
    • Museum membership does not count towards admission for birthday parties (See Membership Terms & Guidelines).

  • When can the host set up the party room?


    • The host will have access to the reserved party space at the time of the reservation.
    • Hosts and your guests may enjoy the rest of the Museum for the entire day, before and after your party.

  • How do the host & guests check in?

    Everyone must check in at the front desk upon arrival at the Museum.

    Hosts:
    • May arrive early to play and return to front desk 5-10 minutes before reservation time for party check-in.
    • Upon check-in you will be assisted by a staff member to orient you to the reserved party space.
    • You will be given access to our birthday cart to unload/load your items.
    Guests:
    • May arrive early to play before reservation time.
    • Guests will be checked in on the host's guest list & receive a stamp and directions to the reserved party space.
  • How do I know if my party has any additional charges for extra guests?


    • Front desk staff will check-in all party guests upon arrival to the Museum.
    • The host is required to checkout with the front desk staff when leaving the Museum in order to pay for any overages.

  • Does the Museum provide decorations or party supplies?


    • CMOSC does not provide any party supplies or decorations.
    • Party hosts are welcome to decorate surfaces in the room.
    • Please do not tape, tack, or adhere anything to the walls, flags or cabinets.
    • Magnet boards are available in Dow to hang cards or pictures.
    • A minimum $50 fee will be charged if the room is left unclean or damaged.
    • All food, decorations and party supplies must remain inside the reserved party area at all times—please, no food in any of the exhibit areas.

  • May I have food delivered to the Museum?

    Host must notify front desk staff during check-in if food delivery is scheduled.

  • Does the Museum provide any craft or activity for birthday parties?


    • The Museum has Play Pal Add-On packages; more information is available on our birthday party website.
    • Hosts are welcome to bring their own activity, but all messes must be cleaned up, and all materials must stay in the rental area.

  • Can we bring balloons, streamers, confetti, or a piñata?


    • No, hosts may not bring balloons, piñatas, glitter, confetti, nuts, glass bottles, or alcohol onto the premises.
    • A $100 noncompliance fee will be assessed for failure to follow these guidelines. Removal from the premises and/or cancellation of the party may also be required.

  • Can we bring in outside vendors like a magician or face painter?


    • Outside vendors and performers are not permitted at the Children's Museum at this time.
    • The Museum offers a professional face-painting Play Pal Add-On package with Clementine the Amazing; see our birthday party webpage for details.

  •  Do I need to clean up afterwards?


    • You are responsible for cleaning up party area before the end of your reservation time:
    • Remove decorations; dispose of waste and food in the bins provided; clear counters, tables, refrigerator and floor of your items. (Museum staff will wipe down surfaces and floors.)
    • A minimum $50 fee will be charged if the room is left unclean or damaged.
    • We recommend starting to clean up at least 10 minutes before your reservation time ends.

  • Can I bring an alcoholic beverage?

    Hosts may not bring alcohol onto the premises. A $100 noncompliance fee will be assessed for failure to follow these guidelines. Removal from the premises and/or cancellation of the party may also be required.

  • I am planning a small celebration in the Museum. Do I need to reserve a party room?


    • Yes, we ask that all birthday party celebrations occur in a reserved party area only.
    • We have a limited number of picnic tables available for general Museum visitors. As a result, parties are not allowed to take place in our picnic area.
    • As a non-profit organization, admissions and memberships only cover a small portion of our operating costs. By reserving a party room or making a donation, you help support the Museum and it's mission.
