Wonder Camps FAQ
What is your session change, refund or cancellation policy?
• $10 administrative fee for any registration changes at any time
• $50 cancellation fee: Camp fees are refundable or transferable, minus the cancellation fee of $50, if requested up to 3 weeks before the start of the session in which your child is enrolled
• No refunds or credits will be given within 3 weeks of camp start date
• The Children’s Museum of Sonoma County reserves the right to cancel camps not fully enrolled and will issue full refunds in such cases.
How does the waitlist work?
If an opening becomes available, you will be contacted by e-mail from our registration system and will have 2 days to respond before it is offered to the next camper in line.
- How does drop off and pick up work at Wonder Camp?
Campers can be dropped off and picked up at our outdoor classroom, located behind Bubblemania. Camp staff will be there to meet you and your children. If you arrive late, please call the Museum. Authorized adults must sign-out children. Please bring a photo ID when you or your child’s caregiver comes for pick up.
- My child has never been dropped off for childcare before; can they be enrolled in camp?
In an effort to make the camp experience a positive one for young children, it is best that they have practiced the routine of being dropped off in a childcare or other drop-off program before they come to camp. They can still enroll, however.
- Are you strict about camper's ages?
All campers must be between 5 years and 8 years of age to attend CMOSC camps. We make no exceptions to this policy.
- What is the difference between Group A and Group B?
Each camp group remains the same through the week, and will do the same activities. The only difference between the two groups is who they are in the camp with. If you would like to be in the same camp as a friend, please make sure you check with your friend and register for the same camp - we cannot guarantee any switching during the week.
- I forgot to sign up for Early or After Care, or an add-on item, can I still do so?
Yes, you can log into your Active Network account at any time and add early or after care, ice skating, and even another week of camp!
- Can my child enroll in the same camp as his or her friends?
We make every effort to accommodate requests for campers to be in the same group as their friends, as long as all of the children have registered for the same camp, during the same week, they will be grouped together.
- Is snack & lunch provided?
Your child is expected to bring a lunch. The Museum does not provide lunch for campers. We ask that no nuts are packed in camper’s lunches in order to ensure the safety of any child with nut allergies. This includes peanut butter.
We provide a simple nutritious snack during each camp session. Please note that campers with food allergies or sensitivities should bring their own snack.
- What is your instructor to child ratio?
In an effort to create a supportive and individualized camp experience, we aim to keep our instructor to child ratio at 1:6. Maximum camp registration is 15 campers and 2 instructors.
- Who are the camp instructors?
All of the Lead Instructors are teachers, or have a strong background in child development and experience working with young children. Our counseling staff is made up of dedicated young adults, many of whom have previous experience working with children.
- Are parents or caregivers allowed to attend camp with their children?
The Museum does not allow adults to attend camp with children. If your child requires special considerations, please speak with the Director of Programs personally, well in advance of your child’s first day of camp. Arrangements must be made prior to the beginning of camp without exception.
- Will you administer medication to my child while they are at camp?
We are not able to administer medication for your child while they are at camp (epi-pens are an exception). If your child needs medication during their camp day, you are welcome to come and administer medication as needed.
- How do you handle behavioral issues?
If a child's actions are disruptive and/or disrespectful to instructors or other campers, staff will speak with parent or caregiver about the behavior. If a child's actions become a repeated issue, staff will ask that the camper does not return to camp. If a child's actions are more serious or threatening in nature, staff will ask that the camper does not return to camp and may require immediate pick-up.
- What should my child wear & pack for camp?
Please send your child in old clothes that you do not mind getting dirty. While we use mostly washable products, stains can still occur. During our camps children play all around the Museum and outdoors, and they can sometimes tear, damage or stain clothes. It is also advisable to send them in layers. - Can my child bring toys & electronics to camp?
Please leave electronics, stuffed animals, trading cards and other toys at home. Museum staff is not responsible for ensuring the safety or care of any such items & toys brought to camp often become lost or damaged.
- Do you offer scholarships for Wonder Camp?
The Children’s Museum of Sonoma County offers a Summer Camp Scholarship fund to help families send their child/ren to the Museum for a fun-filled, educational camp. This scholarship has been made available through a grant from the Farley Family Charitable Foundation and generous donations from families that attend our summer camp.
