COLLETTE MICHAUD | CEO & Founder
Collette has over 15 years of experience working in software design as a project leader, game designer, art manager and animator. For more than ten years, she was a key innovator and manager for Lucas Learning and LucasArts Entertainment Company. While at LucasArts, Collette was a part of the executive management team and was recruited to help launch Lucas Learning LTD. During her tenure at Lucas Learning, Collette worked with teachers, scientists, and young children to create award winning educational software products. In 2001, Collette left the software industry to raise her two young sons. Having children of her own opened her eyes to the real need for hands-on experiential learning outside of the computer.
DOUGLAS KAY | Chief Financial Officer
During his 24 years experience in the entertainment and technology industry, Doug Kay has played major roles in the development, production, and business practices in several companies that produce graphics, video, web-content and CD-ROM products for children. Doug was the Chief Technical Officer at LucasArts Entertainment and in 1985 he founded the computer graphics department for the well known Industrial Light and Magic Co. By 1994 he was managing a staff of 150 and he is the recipient of an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Techinical Achievement award. Doug has a Master's in Computer Graphics from Cornell University and has lectured for the entrepreneurship programs at both Cornell and Stanford Universities.
JANICE VINK | Office Manager
Janice Vink has over 14 years of experience in Human Resources and Office Administration. Janice graduated “with Distinction” from Sonoma State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources with a Concentration in Organizational Development. During college, Janice interned with the Sonoma County Personnel Department where she facilitated the development of internship and volunteer positions within County Departments; assisted in the development and implementation of employee training programs; and participated in the coordination and implementation of recruitment screenings, and exams for various County Departments. Upon graduation from Sonoma State, Janice accepted a position with Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences, Inc. to establish and manage the Human Resources function in a privately held and growing pharmaceutical company. As Sr. Manager, Human Resources, Janice developed and managed programs for employee hiring and retention, training and development, safety, benefits and compensation.
PHILLIP HEIMAN | Facilities and Exhibits Maintenance Manager
Phil is a licensed General Contractor who has been in the building industry since 1998. Phil managed his own general contracting company for nine years and has a broad spectrum of skills and experience that include project management, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, retrofitting, designing and building to plans. Phil enjoys spending time with his son, Lucas. He is also an accomplished martial arts instructor with a black belt in karate. Phil attended school in Novato, CA and graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College with course study in Environmental Engineering.
CYNDI YOXALL | Director of Development
Cyndi is new to the Museum and joined the team in April 2018! Cyndi brings over 10 years experience in fundraising, event planning, management and marketing. She grew up in Sonoma County and obtained her BS Business Administration (Accounting) from Sonoma State University. Most recently, Cyndi was Development Director for Summerfield Waldorf School and Farm. Prior to starting a family she worked in Wells Fargo Bank’s Wholesale University Recruiting Department in San Francisco. She has expertise as a recruiter, having worked for four years in both corporate and temporary staffing environments. Her passion for children’s development and learning through exploration and creativity brought her to the museum. Cyndi enjoys the beach, cycling, music, and most of all, raising her two sons, Cole and Hudson.
LAUREN PETERS | Director of Programs
Lauren has been working in the museum field for over nine years. She has a Master's Degree in Museum Education from John F. Kennedy University. Her focus has been on early childhood museum education and open-ended teaching pedagogies. She is a maker, a lover of dogs and dance-party enthusiast. She is a believer in lifelong learning and a huge advocate for the idea that playing is learning. Previous work includes the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito, CA and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
Solina Larum | Visitor Experience Manager
Solina is a huge advocate for lifelong learning. As a Sonoma County transplant from Humboldt County, Solina graduated from Sonoma State University with a BA in Art History, with Department Distinction. Prior to this, she attended Santa Rosa Junior College where she received four Associate’s Degrees in fields ranging from Humanities to Social and Behavioral Sciences. Solina previously worked as a caregiver (CNA) and has a broad background of working with individuals with special needs. In her free time Solina is a freelance painter, and enjoys baking, traveling to Iceland to visit her parents, and playing with her Great Dane, “Shleppy”.
THERESA GIACOMINO | Outreach Manager
Theresa Giacomino has 19 years of experience working with children in preschool and after-school programs. She completed her teaching units in Early Childhood Education at the College of Marin and Santa Rosa Junior College. Her early training as a docent for the acclaimed Terwilliger Nature Education Center made a lasting impact that inspires her ability to help children connect with the world of nature. For the past two years, she has been working with high needs children in the public school system.
RAIMONA WHITE | Front Desk Manager
Raimona has always loved working with kids. She graduated from Andrews University with a masters degree in communication, and since then, has worked with kids in after school programs, summer day camps, and as an elementary teacher for two years. She enjoys sewing, learning to play the violin, and traveling.
Abby Lake | Volunteer Program Manager
Abby has over seven years of experience cultivating curiosity and creativity as a middle school teacher in both public and private school settings. She has taught everything from culinary arts to medieval history, but her main area of expertise are language arts and video production. Prior to her work as an educator, Abby worked closely with a variety of non-profit organizations in the Bay Area as both a video marketer and a volunteer recruiter/coordinator. As the Volunteer Coordinator for the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County, Abby takes pride in utilizing the skills she obtained as an educator to inspire others to be a part of something that positively enhances the lives of children and their families. When she is not recruiting and coordinating volunteers at CMOSC, Abby enjoys sewing, reading, playing all kinds of sports, shooting and editing videos, and being a mom to her son, Logan.

KATHLEEN McGILL | Bookkeeping Consultant
Kathleen McGill is a certified public accountant with 25 years of accounting and office administration experience. Her work has included performing audits for wineries, retail businesses and non-profits. She is currently a self-employed consultant to small businesses and an active member of the Petaluma Mother’s Club and parent volunteer at Mary Collins Charter School at Cherry Valley in Petaluma.
MELANIE LAMOUREUX | Website Consultant
Melanie Lamoureux worked for seven years at Minnesota Educational Computing Corporation (MECC) in research and design for children’s educational software development. She also worked for four years at Lucas Learning where she conducted testing to understand how children related to the products being designed. She currently runs her own usability and design consulting businesses.
