Snow Days FAQs
Who says it doesn’t snow in Sonoma County?
In January, the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County will create a winter wonderland right in Santa Rosa!
20 Tons of fresh snow will be delivered to the museum and maintained over the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday
Weekend, creating a space for children to explore, build, create, and play outside.
What is the cost to play in the snow?
There is no additional cost to play in the snow, it is free with admission or membership. There will be additional fees applied for concessions and face painting.
If I'm a member do I have to wait in line?
We will have a separate member check-in desk at the entrance to the Museum, please bring your membership card with you to ensure faster check-in.
What else will there be to do?
Along with the snow, there will be a winter wonderland in the Art Studio with winter-themed activities! We will have hot chocolate and coffee for purchase, and Clementine the Amazing will be here to paint faces - additional fees apply for face painting.
What happens if it’s raining?
Snow Days will happen rain or shine.
When can we play in the snow?
Saturday and Sunday 10 AM - 4 PM, Monday 9 AM - 4 PM, all days will have periodic breaks to refresh the snow.
Will I get unlimited time to play in the snow?
We will rotate groups of visitors through the snow tent every 10 mins, with breaks for snow refresh through-out the day.
How will you ensure visitors are acting respectfully in the snow tent?
We will have staff and volunteers stationed in the tent and at exits and entrances at all times. For safety, we will not allow any large shovels in the tent. Snow balls may not be thrown at any persons, or anything other than the targets provided.
Will there be a separate tent for little ones?
Yes, for the safety of toddlers, we will have a separate small tent for 2.5 years and younger & their caregivers ONLY, no exceptions.
Can I bring all my snow toys from home?
We will have snow toys for purchase, and a few toys provided by the Museum, in an effort to reduce lost items and confusion, we encourage you to leave your snow toys at home (note: we will not allow any shovels in the snow tents).
Should I wear snow-gear?
The snow is real, and will be cold and wet. You do not have to wear snow-clothes, but you'll want to bring a change of clothes.
If your parking lot is full, where can I park?
Carpool if you can, as we anticipate high traffic. Please park on the street, in the neighborhood, and at the WIC parking lot across Range Ave from Whole Foods.
We will have a 5 minute drop-off & pick-up area towards the back of our parking lot and parking maps available.
Please do not park in the Schulz Museum parking lot off of Hardies Lane, or T&B Sports.
