Join the Redwood Empire Garden Railway Society as they show off their model trains and buildings. Build your own train tracks in Mary's Garden, listen to train music, or hear a story about trains. Don't miss out on a ride on the Live Steamers ride-on train (additional fees apply)!

If you love trains, then you won't want to miss this very special event.

Parking Map

We encourage carpooling, parking in the Children's Museum's lot is limited. If our parking lot is full, please find parking on the street on Hardies Lane or Range Ave.  Please DO NOT park in the Charles M. Schulz Museum or the Redwood Empire Ice Arena parking lots.

Train Days FAQ

  • What are the hours of Train Days?

    Saturday August 11th from 9-4
    Sunday, August 12th from 9-3

  • What is the cost to attend Train Days?

    You can attend Train Days with your museum admission of $12 per person, members are free. There will be additional fees for concessions, hot dog lunch, face painting and the ride-on train.

  • Will I need my membership card or ID?

    We will have a separate member check-in desk at the entrance to the museum, please bring your membership card with you to ensure faster check-in. If you bring guests with you, not covered by your membership, you will need to pay for them through the main entrance. If you are a current member of the train groups participating in this event, your name badge or membership card will allow you to enter admission free.

  • If your parking lot is full, where can I park?

    Please park on the street in the neighborhood. We encourage you to carpool if possible. We will have maps available to show the additional parking areas, or download the map from this webpage.


    **Please do not park in the Schulz Museum or Redwood Empire Ice Arena parking lots.

  • What kind of activities will be at Train Days?

    Enjoy a fun and educational day for your train-loving children! Build your own Brio train in our DIY train exhibit, ride on an actual live steamer train (for a $2 per ride donation) courtesy of the Redwood Empire Live Steamers, get up close to unique and elaborate model train displays courtesy of the Redwood Empire Garden Railway Society, and The Diablo Pacific Short Line Interactive Train Display. Listen to authentic train music, create your own train artwork and get your face painted with Clementine (additional fee applies). Performances of live train music will be held at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm.

  • Will there be food available?

    A hot dog lunch (addtional fee of $5/per lunch) will be available on Saturday, thanks to Active 20/30 Club of Santa Rosa. Lunch will NOT BE SERVED SUNDAY. Lunch includes: Lunch includes: Hotdog, chips, drink (choice of: water, juice or milk) and yogurt.


    Coffee and refreshments will be available on Sunday (CASH ONLY).
    Outside food and drink are allowed at designated picnic areas!
