Chess Club

Chess Club is an afterschool club for children 6-12 years old to learn, improve on, and play the game of Chess. Children will learn from an experienced guide supported by staff and volunteers.

The Museum does not provide snacks or lunch for participants of Chess Club. Please send a nut-free snack that does not need to be reheated with your child if they start to get hungry after school!

The Museum will attempt to maintain but cannot guarantee a 100% nut-free environment.

· A reusable water bottle
· A snack (nothing that needs to be reheated)
The Museum is not responsible for any personal items lost or stolen at our programs. We recommend writing your child’s name on all personal items and leaving sentimental objects and toys at home. Lost items that are found and/or claimed will be kept at the Museum for a period of 1 month before being donated.

Monthly Chess Club costs $132 for every Wednesday within that calendar month.
If spots are still available, drop-in for a day! Drop-ins cost $40 per day.

Yes! Drop-ins are subject to availability and open one week before the first of the month. You may signup for a Drop-in the same day if needed. Drop-ins may apply towards a full month of Chess Club if purchased within the same calendar month the drop-in took place.

If you choose to cancel or transfer your Chess Club experience, refunds, proration, and fees follow the guidelines below.
· Cancellations more than 7 days prior to the first day of the month are refunded minus a $25 admin fee.
· Cancellations less than 7 days prior receive a 50% refund.
· If the Museum must cancel a full month of Chess Club, full refunds will be issued. If the Museum must cancel a single day of Chess Club, prorated refunds will be issued.
· Chess Club may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. These refunds will be issued with no additional fee.
· Transfers between Chess Club months that are requested up to 7 days prior to the first day of the month will be offered at no additional fee. Transfers that occur less than 7 days prior to the first of the month incur a $25 administrative fee.
· Transfers of drop-in dates are subject to availability. Transfers of drop-in dates that are requested up to 7 days prior to your selected date will be offered at no additional fee. Transfers that occur less than 7 days prior to your selected date will incur a $10 administrative fee.

Drop-Off may take place as early as 2:30pm. Pick-Up may take place up until 4pm. Late drop-off and early pick-up okay. We understand the challenges of transporting kids and want to create a relaxed club atmosphere.

Pick-Up must happen no later than 4pm. A $1 per minute charge will apply for every additional minute past pick-up time a child remains in our care.
Attempts will be made to contact the caregiver(s) on the child’s sign-up form at the phone number(s) provided should a child not be picked-up within the designated timeframe. Should the caregiver(s) be unreachable, authorities will be called to assist if more than 30 minutes pass after the Workshop end time.

All children enrolled in Chess Club must be within the designated age range to sign up.
Curriculum and activities are created specifically for children within the designated age ranges so they may learn, collaborate, and communicate more effectively. Unfortunately, we cannot make exceptions for children outside of the designated age range.
Younger children who are excited about Chess Club can join us when they’re ready!

Caregivers may not stay with their child during Chess Club unless they sign a volunteer waiver and assume the role of a Workshop assistant. Siblings and additional children who are not signed up for a workshop cannot attend the workshop with a volunteering caregiver.
