Current Volunteering Opportunities
Opportunity Type: Wingding Birthday Celebration
Date: Saturday, June 10th
Time Frame: 8 am - 12 pm and/or 12 pm - 4 pm
Job Description: The Children's Museum of Sonoma County is celebrating its third birthday this June and we need volunteer help to make the celebration happen. The celebration will consist of carnival games, a butterfly release, and general merriment. Tasks will include: managing carnival games, directing parking lot traffic, and engaging with guests whenever possible.
Opportunity Type: Museum Docent
Date(s): Any Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun
Time Frame: Any hour increment between the hours of 8:30am and 4pm
Job Description: The primary duties of this role include interacting with guests on the Museum floor, enforcing rules and policies, answering basic questions posed by guests, explaining the science behind exhibits, assisting guests in the art studio, assisting Playologists with programming when needed, and helping to ensure that guests are enjoying their visit to the Museum.
Opportunity type: Summer Student Ambassadors (NEW Teen Volunteering Opportunity!)
Date(s): June 12 - Aug 11, Mon - Fri (2 weeks/summer commitment required)
Time frame: 9 AM - 3 PM (at least 9 AM - 1 PM)
Job Description: Are you a graduating 8th grade student or high school student interested in making a difference this summer? Do you enjoy being creative and working with children? Are you looking for a way to give back to your community?
Consider becoming a Summer Student Ambassador at the Children’s Museum this upcoming June through August! The Children’s Museum is looking for responsible, reliable, and energetic teens to be a part of our Summer Wonder Camps which run from June 12th until August 11th. Potential Physical Requirements of Volunteers
- Ability to lift at least 30 pounds
- Comfortable being indoors and outdoors for extended periods of time
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to bend and kneel easily
- Ability to make eye contact and smile – repeatedly

Transformation Tuesdays COMING SOON!
The first Tuesday of each month is reserved for companies wishing to book group volunteer projects at the Museum for their employees.
