Make Fingerpaint at Home that Your Kids can EAT!

What better way to have fun getting messy and creative than finger painting? It is not only enjoyable, it stimulates your child’s senses and helps to develop fine motor skills. This recipe is easy to make at home, and is edible for littles ones who are exploring their taste sense.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 cup water
  • Pinch of salt
  • Extra water
  • Food coloring or liquid watercolors
  • Try some natural colors with:
    • Tumeric- yellow
    • Beets- purple
    • Blueberries- blue

Directions

  1. Mix flour and water in a pot and whisk until smooth
  2. Heat mixture and continue to mix until it becomes paste-like
  3. Add a pinch of salt (optional) to help preserve paint
  4. To reach desired consistency slowly add cold water and mix
  5. Divide paint into bowls and add coloring
  6. Will keep in the fridge with a lid on
