Children’s Museum of Sonoma County Dreams BIG at the Virtual Time to Wonder This Sunday

Time to Wonder kicks off a 10-day auction with a heartfelt message celebrating the Children’s Museum.

Santa Rosa, CA (September 9, 2020) – All members of the public can enjoy an online virtual program celebrating the Children’s Museum’s joyful experiences. Time to Wonder Dream BIG 2020 will take place Sunday, September 13th at 4:30 p.m. The program will stream live at on Facebook. Viewers can watch the livestream show on demand immediately following the premiere on the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County’s YouTube channel. This is the first virtual celebration hosted by the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County.

The Children’s Museum’s online auction opens virtually on Sunday, September 13th at 10:00 a.m. Due to generous support from sponsors and donors, the Children’s Museum will receive 100% of the proceeds donated.

The Dream BIG virtual art auction features over 45 auction items: at-home adventures and experiences, fabulous food and collectible wines, books and gourmet baskets all sourced locally. Additionally, participants can support the Fund-A Need and help ignite joy, encourage discovery, and awaken inquiry by donating. Funds will be used to refurbish existing beloved exhibits and build new gems including the Space Odyssey for Galactic Explores.

After 15 years, the Children’s Museum is here to stay,” said Founder & CEO Collette Michaud. “We are constantly growing and creating new spaces for children to explore.

The bidding will open on September 13th at 10:00 a.m.., but the Children’s Museum encourages participants to register for Greater Giving prior to the event to browse auction items and mark favorites for easy bidding.

Our mission calls on us to inspire joy, creativity, and curiosity. During this time, we have worked to be a partner and resource for those who work with or on behalf of children, youth, and families. Compiling videos, resources, and guides for parents and educators. The funds we raise through this event will provide free virtual programming for our community, build, and refresh amazing exhibits, and create programs that welcome people of all ages and abilities into the Children’s Museum.

Background

The Children’s Museum sees over 140,000 annual visitors. This past fiscal year included 140 School Group visits, Spring and Summer Campers, Special Event visitors, Members-only Mornings, and free Sensory Friendly Afternoon groups. Access is critical to ensure all children can play. In the past year, the Children’s Museum saw 26,000 low income visitors through our “Museums for All” and other free partnership programs which subsidize admission prices. In addition, our open-door policy provides free access when needed. In addition to admissions, we have a growing online presence
with over 14,000 newsletter subscribers and thousands of followers on social media channels.
