In the event the camp of your choice is full, please sign up for the waitlist in our registration system. If an opening becomes available, you will be contacted by e-mail. Oftentimes we only get a day’s, or morning’s notice, for openings for camp spaces, because of this, you will need to respond quickly to ensure you can register for the space.
Campers can be dropped off and picked up at the Main entrance of the Museum. Camp staff will be there to meet you and your children. If you arrive late, you may be required to walk your child to the camp classroom.
Authorized adults must sign-out children. Please bring a photo ID when you or your child’s caregiver comes for pick up.
In an effort to make the camp experience a positive one for young children, it is best that they have practiced the routine of being dropped off in a childcare or other drop-off program before they come to camp. They can still enroll, however.
All campers must be between 5 years and 8 years of age to attend Wonder Camp. For Adventure Camp all campers must be between 8 years and 11 years of age. We make no exceptions to this policy.
Wonder Camps are specifically designed to suit the social-emotional development and cognitive needs of our campers. We tailor instruction and guide group dynamics for the specific age group to provide the best camp experience possible.
SNACK: We provide a simple, nutritious snack during all our camp sessions. (Half-day sessions: 1 snack/day, Full-day sessions: 2 snacks/day.)
*Please note that campers with food allergies or sensitivities should bring their own snack.
LUNCH: Spring & Summer sessions ONLY — Your child is expected to bring a lunch. The Museum does not provide lunch for campers. We ask that no nuts are packed in camper’s lunches in order to ensure the safety of any child with nut allergies. This includes peanut butter.
We strive to maintain a safe environment and ensure the health of all campers and staff. To help facilitate this, please only send your child to camp if they:
• Have been fever-free for 24 hours
• Have not vomited within a 24 hour period
• Have no eye infection
• Are lice and nit free
In an effort to create a supportive and individualized camp experience, we have 15 campers and 2 instructors.
All of the Lead Instructors are teachers, or have a strong background in child development and experience working with young children. Our counseling staff is made up of dedicated young adults, many of whom have previous experience working with children.
The Museum does not typically allow adults to attend camp with children. If your child requires special considerations, such as a behavioral/1:1 aid, please speak with the Programs Manager, as arrangements must be made prior to the beginning of camp.
We are not able to administer medication for your child while they are in our care (epi-pens are an exception). If your child needs medication during their workshop session, you are welcome to come and administer medication as needed.
If your child needs an epi-pen, the instructor will hold onto it during the day and help the child administer it if needed in an emergency.
During November, Winter & Spring Break Wonder Camp sessions we only offer indoor camp sessions, though some curriculum and access to bathrooms can be outside, we will limit/prohibit children’s access to the outdoors if the air quality is unhealthy.
During Summer Wonder Camp session, when when our campers are outside during the day, we will move into our indoor classroom and limit access to outdoors.
If a child’s actions are disruptive and/or disrespectful to instructors or other campers, staff will speak with parent or caregiver about the behavior. If a child’s actions become a repeated issue, staff will ask that the camper does not return to camp. If a child’s actions are more serious or threatening in nature, staff will ask that the camper does not return to camp and may require immediate pick-up.
Please send your child in old clothes that you do not mind getting dirty. While we use mostly washable products, stains can still occur. During our camps children play all around the Museum and outdoors, and they can sometimes tear, damage or stain clothes. It is also advisable to send them in layers. Please send children in closed toe shoes.
Please leave electronics, stuffed animals, trading cards and other toys at home. Museum staff is not responsible for ensuring the safety or care of any such items. They can often become distractions for all campers, and may end up lost or damaged.
Thank you for your interest in Summer Wonder Camp at the Children’s Museum! Our goal is to offer affordable summer camp experiences for all children, no matter your circumstance.
Please note:
• Scholarship funding is limited; therefore scholarships are being granted on a sliding scale; we are not able to offer full scholarships this year.
• Submitting the application is the first step of the process and does not guarantee that you will be awarded a scholarship. It is extremely unlikely that last minute scholarship requests (received after April 6, 2020) will be granted.
• ALL scholarship recipients will be required to pay at least a $50. Camp fees are due at registration.
