Party Specialist

The Party Specialist plays a key role in creating joyful and memorable experiences for families hosting parties at the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County (CMOSC). This position ensures that party hosts feel welcomed, informed, and supported throughout their event. When not assisting with party duties, the Party Specialist assists the Visitor Services team—engaging with visitors, supporting visitor service operations, and helping maintain exhibits and public areas. This position reports to the Visitor Services Manager.operational needs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Greet party hosts and guests; provide orientation to the party space and Museum.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for party families during their reservation, answering questions and assisting with any needs that arise.
  • Assist visitors at the front desk with sales and check-in procedures using the point-of-sale system, and with inquiries in person and via phone and email.
  • Reset party spaces between reservations.
  • Assist the Senior Sales Coordinator with policy communication and implementation.
  • Support the Visitor Services team by opening and closing exhibit areas according to established protocols when needed and resetting spaces throughout the day.
  • Provide a welcoming and safe visitor experience by greeting guests, delivering excellent customer service, monitoring adherence to Museum rules, and addressing concerns or conflicts using a positive, customer-centered approach.
  • Additional projects and duties as assigned by the Senior Sales Coordinator and Visitor Services Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual skills preferred. 
  • First Aid/CPR Certification required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in customer service, preferably in a entertainment, retail, or hospitality setting a plus.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to interact with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to maintain professional behavior under pressure. 
  • Reliable, punctual, and team oriented.
  • Must be available to work Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, including occasional evening hours.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the Museum for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and perform light cleaning and exhibit reset tasks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, sometimes chaotic and noisy environment and respond quickly to visitor needs.

Position Details

  • This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position, reporting to the Visitor Services Manager.
  • Schedule: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, including occasional evening hours.
  • Hours: Up to 24 hours per week.
  • The pay range for this position is $20.00-$21.00 per hour.
