Indoor Fort Building For Kids

children playing in a blanket fort in their living room

A Fun Activity for Kids of All Ages

Materials

  • Blankets
  • Pillows
  • Scraps of fabric
  • Towels
  • Tape
  • Flashlight – optional
  • Sleeping bag – optional

Directions:

This is an age-old favorite amongst children of all ages. Set aside an area in your living room or spare room if you have one. Someplace besides your child’s room.  It has to feel special and a bit verboten. Make sure any breakable objects are put away. Then simply provide your child with plenty of blankets, pillows, scraps of fabric, and towels along with a healthy bit of tape.  Be prepared for things to get messy and perhaps a bit disheveled looking. Your reward will hopefully be hours and hours of your child disappearing into their imaginations while they happily create worlds…without you! Throw a sleeping bag and flashlight into it and let your child spend the night in their new world after reading them a bedtime story.
